St Peter Chanel is fortunate to have Ms Amelia Lane as our Instrumental Music Teacher and Band Conductor. Amelia completed her Bachelor of Music studies at the University of Queensland, majoring in Classical Tuba. She has been providing private music lessons in schools for many years and has prepared students for A.M.E.B. examinations, performances at (QCMF) Queensland Catholic Schools & Colleges Music Festival and school functions.
Amelia gives lessons in Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, Flute, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Alto and Tenor Saxophone and Percussion. A 'Come and Try' day is held when the students are in Year 3. Children see the instruments being played by current band members and then try the ones they would like to learn. Students start their musical career with group lessons commencing in Term 1 of Year 4. Beginner Band rehearsals start in Term 2.
